Somerset Medical Center has 14 fully equipped operating rooms. The operating suites feature many of the latest technologies, including image-guided, laser, radiofrequency and vessel-sealing technologies, as well as high-definition digital laparoscopic and robotic equipment.
The medical center performs over 8,000 procedures a year in every surgical specialty. The Operating Room is able to accommodate elective and emergency surgery 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our surgeons and anesthesiologists are board-certified in their specialties. Our nurses and technicians are highly experienced, with the majority of our nurses are nationally certified in Perioperative Nursing (Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care, Critical Care, Emergency, Medical-Surgical or Gastroenterology nursing certifications). We are focused on patient safety and creating a positive healing environment for our patients.
The Joint Surgery Institute at Somerset Medical Center is a special
program that brings together a team of experienced and expert surgeons
with caring and specially trained nurses, therapists and technicians. We have received the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of ApprovalTM for total knee and total hip replacement surgery.
Somerset Medical Center now offers da Vinci Robotic Surgery. This
surgical method uses a state-of-the-art system designed to help your
doctor perform the most precise and least invasive procedure possible.
Our Gastrointestinal (GI) Center performs approximately 6,000 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures a year in its four fully equipped endoscopy suites.
Post-surgical patients who require an overnight stay will be cared for in the John and Mary Obzansky Surgical Pavilion.
