Somerset Medical Center's Food and Nutrition Services Department provides meals to all patients, and also operates the hospital’s Cafeteria and Good Day Café. Your comments and suggestions are welcomed; we can be reached at 908-685-2471.
Each day, our patients are offered a wide variety of healthy selections on the menu. An alternate menu is also available if patients without dietary restrictions would like a broader selection. In addition, guest trays can be delivered to the patient’s room upon request for a cost of $5.
Patients with special diets may be visited by our dietitian, and can call ext. 3392 for more information. Patients may also notify us of any special dietary requests in advance of their stay by calling 908-685-2471.
All of the department's clinical dietitians are credentialed through the American Dietetic Association and work collaboratively with social workers and the nursing staff on a daily basis to provide supportive care in the treatment of patients. Services include providing medical nutrition therapy for patients on specialized diets, including those patients requiring tube feedings.
In addition, our dietitians are involved in numerous outpatient support groups and programs, and also speak to various organizations within the community.
