Patients of The Steeplechase Cancer Center also have easy access to laboratory services. Through its partnership with Mayo Medical Laboratories, our Clinical Laboratory can test for rare blood disorders, cancers with unusual markers and neurological diseases - a service beyond the capabilities of most hospitals. Patients' loved ones may take advantage of our onsite Blood Donor Program, where they can donate blood for use in their loved ones' treatment.
The Lab recently introduced state-of-the-art testing services to diagnose and classify lymphomas and leukemias. Called flow cytometry, this advanced technology enables pathologists to analyze cells' characteristics as they fow in a fuid stream through a laser beam. Somerset Medical Center is one of only a few community hospitals in New Jersey to ofer this level of testing. |
